about

If you ask people to tell you what music means to them 99.9% of them will respond like this: “Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time,” they’ll say, quoting Wikipedia verbatim. “Well, it’s somethin’ that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. I don’t know,” said the man I often see eating at Melis, a deli located near the building in which I work.

But those responses, while accurate in their way, fail to convey the power music has to illicit emotion in people. And when you press them to talk more about it, as I did with the man from the deli, they just swallow the rest of their sandwich and leave, making sure that when they bus their tray and toss the soiled napkins, wax paper and any remaining food they do not also throw out the plastic basket the sandwich comes in - a common mistake at Melis and one that will result in pretty harsh warning from Naomi Goodridge, the manager, who doesn’t know anything about music either.

Fortunately, someone who does is my good friend Belll, the creator of the songs you are listening to now. What Belll has done is cleverly use this knowledge, along with his ability to competently play musical instruments, to write and record some excellent songs. The words I’d use to describe them are “bright,” “dreamy,” “cool,” “dramatic” and “9 of them.” And boy are these songs are versatile. You can listen to them while engaging in a myriad of activities; commuting, jogging, washing your hands while staring in the mirror, or even at your favorite nightclub in the bathroom. Just go to a stall, pop in some earbuds and have yourself a musical party. It’s that easy.

So in conclusion, even if you don’t understand music, or know what it is, Belll has created a feast for the ears that even the folks at Melis would be envious of (though of course their food is consumed orally). To begin, simply pay for the songs, download them and import into the media player of your choice. Maybe for easier access create a playlist and drag them all into it. I label all my playlists “Songs_” I suggest you do the same. They may also be on Spotify, I don’t know.
